As I’ve journeyed through life—both personally and professionally—one recurring theme I’ve found invaluable is the power of positivity. Positivity isn’t just a mindset; it’s a lifestyle, a choice to see beyond the difficulties and believe that something better lies ahead. Recently, I have heard people say, "Ryan, things are not the same," often with a note of resignation or loss. But I believe we should reframe this notion. Rather than longing for the way things once were, why not embrace the belief that "things can be better than ever"? Embracing positivity can change our lives, influence those around us, and allow us to overcome challenges with resilience and determination.

Ryan Abramson: What Does It Mean to Be Positive?

Being positive isn’t about ignoring difficulties or putting on a happy face when times are hard. Positivity means choosing to focus on possibilities rather than limitations (Yes, even Ryan Abramson has some limitations). It’s about cultivating a mindset that believes in growth, opportunity, and resilience—even in the face of hardship. A positive outlook can transform setbacks into setups for something greater. It’s the inner belief that “this too shall pass” and that we have the power to navigate life’s storms and emerge stronger.

Positivity involves acknowledging challenges but not letting them define us. As the author and motivational speaker Norman Vincent Peale once said, “Change your thoughts and you change your world.” Choosing to be positive shifts our perspective and opens doors that negativity would leave closed.

Overcoming Challenges: The Key to Growth

Every person faces challenges in life. I have faced many, both in my role as a marketing and communications consultant with Oakridge Leaders here in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, and in my personal journey. When we encounter difficulties, it’s natural to feel discouraged. Yet, what I’ve learned over the years is that these very challenges often hold the keys to our growth. To overcome, we must cultivate a resilient spirit, and positivity is our foundation for resilience.

One of my favorite quotes about overcoming challenges comes from Maya Angelou, who said, “You may not control all the events that happen to you, but you can decide not to be reduced by them.” This quote has served as a guiding principle in my life. I say to myself, "Ryan Abramson, we can’t always control external circumstances, but we can control our responses and attitudes." With positivity, we have the choice to see challenges as opportunities, moments where we can evolve and rise to meet new heights.

A Story of Triumph Through Positivity

Consider the story of a young man I know. He grew up with modest means, navigating both personal and financial challenges early in life. In college, he encountered another setback—a financial crisis that took him out of school for two years. He was forced to delay his graduation; a heartbreaking prospect for someone who had fought hard to get to where he was.

But rather than focusing on his limitations, he made a conscious decision to focus on what he could do. He read books on resilience, adopted a positive mindset, and found creative ways to stay connected with his studies, even while he was unable to attend classes. The experience changed his perspective; instead of seeing the delay as a setback, he reframed it as an opportunity to deepen his understanding and build his character.

Today, this young man is a successful health professional, inspiring others to overcome adversity. He didn’t let circumstances define him. He embraced them, seeing each challenge as a stepping stone to something better. His story serves as a testament to the power of positivity—reminding us all that with the right mindset, even the most challenging situations can propel us toward success.

Choosing Positivity: A Daily Practice

In my own work, I have witnessed firsthand how positivity can shape our lives and influence the lives of others. In Bucks County (Ryan Abramson lives in Bucks County), I have helped numerous individuals and businesses grow, using positivity as a key component in their journey. Choosing to be positive doesn’t mean we ignore hardships but rather that we embrace the idea that “things can be better than ever.” When we choose this perspective, we start seeing obstacles as mere stepping stones on the way to our goals.

A positive mindset is like a muscle: the more we exercise it, the stronger it becomes. Whether you’re facing a career setback, a personal challenge, or simply trying to navigate the ups and downs of life, remember this: you are capable of more than you think. As the renowned American writer Helen Keller said, “Although the world is full of suffering, it is also full of the overcoming of it.” In every trial lies an opportunity for growth, learning, and a chance to emerge stronger than before.

Why Positivity Matters for Success

Positivity is a critical component of success, and it influences everything from our mental health to our relationships and our ability to achieve our goals. Studies show that individuals who maintain a positive outlook are more resilient, healthier, and more successful. In business, positivity can help foster a productive and innovative environment. When we approach our goals with optimism, we are more likely to persevere and achieve them. This applies to everyone, from individuals to entire organizations, in places as close to home as Bucks County to as far as the global stage.

In my career, I have seen people who initially felt overwhelmed by the challenges of building a brand or expanding their reach. With a shift to a positive approach, they were able to transform their fears into action plans, setbacks into learning experiences, and ultimately, achieve their goals. Positivity helped them stay focused, innovative, and open to new ideas—qualities that are essential for success in any field.

Embrace the Belief that Things Can Be Better Than Ever

The next time you hear someone say, "things are not the same," consider gently reframing it. Remind yourself and those around you that “things can be better than ever.” With a positive mindset, there are no limits to what we can accomplish. Embracing positivity allows us to see a future filled with potential and opportunity, a future where challenges only make us stronger, and setbacks only fuel our determination.

In a world that’s constantly changing, positivity is a steadfast anchor. It is the choice to see beyond the obstacles and focus on what can be achieved, learned, and celebrated. So, as we all move forward, let’s carry this message with us: no matter what challenges arise, with positivity, we can create lives filled with opportunity, growth, and success.
